Belkin Router N1 Vision Configuration
Building your home wireless network is easy with this Belkin Wireless router N1 Vision. To share the broadband Internet connection you need to connect the RJ-45 gigabit WAN port to the DSL cable modem (such as Linksys cable modem or D-Link cable modem). If you have already had a “wired” Gigabit backbone LAN in your office you can connect this Gigabit LAN port to your LAN backbone as an Access Point to the wireless network. If you are connecting the Belkin wireless router to another router to use as a wireless access point and/or switch, you will have to do the following before connecting the router to your network:
- Disable DHCP feature of the router
- Change the LAN IP address to an available address on your network. The LAN ports on the router cannot accept a DHCP address from your other router.
For your home network, you can share the internet and use this high performance network coverage and speed to stream movies, music, and photos from your Windows Vista media center PC (using media center extender) to your High definition LCD TV wirelessly. Or if you have a game console, you can play the game LIVE wirelessly. This console can also extend your Windows media center to your HDTV too.
As general protection against network security threats, although it is not as secure as the firewall security guidelines applied in a large organization, assure that you enable the wireless connection with the latest security standard WPA/WPA2 encryption and also protect your computers with the virus protection software.
