Like other wireless router manufacturers, Buffalo technology introduces new wireless router with the final version of 802.11n – the AirStation Nfinity Wireless-N High Power Router & Access Point WZR-HP-G300NH.
AirStation WZR-HP-G300NH Buffalo Wireless Router is Wi-Fi Certified 802.11n and is backward compatible with 802.11b/g wireless devices. The router is embedded with DD-WRT for high power routers. DD-WRT is a Linux based alternative OpenSource firmware suitable for a great variety of WLAN routers and embedded systems. The main emphasis lies on providing the easiest possible handling while at the same time supporting a great number of functionalities within the framework of the respective hardware platform used. BUFFALO has decided to use DD-WRT as the factory default for its HighPower Routers AirStation WZR-HP-G300NH, WHR-HP-G300N and WHR-HP-GN distributed in the US and the EU.
AirStation WZR-HP-G300NH Buffalo Wireless Router is ideal solution for home wireless networks as well as small offices (SOHO) and is ideal for streaming HD videos, music, and other networking function such as file sharing, network printing, and e-mail from multiple client computers simultaneously. The router includes a built-in QoS feature: MovieEngine™ to optimize throughput for HD media streaming and it also includes the addition of BitTorrent client to allow you download your favorite movies and other music files from Torrent sites even if your computer is down.
For wireless security connection like other home / gaming wireless routers, the AirStation WZR-HP-G300NH supports industrial wireless security WPA2, WPA-PSK (AES, TKIP) and 128/64-bit WEP. And the good thing is that the router supports Guest secure access which allows you create separate wireless network name for friends without gaining access to your other network resources.
The router includes one USB port to allow you attach USB storage for sharing across the network and store your downloaded files with BitTorrent™ Downloader. Unfortunately the USB port cannot be used to attach a USB printer for sharing. Should you need to share a printer, you can purchase a wireless USB print-server. Or you can consider the Belkin N600 HD which includes 2 USB ports to let you share both USB storage (with BitTorrent support) and USB printer for sharing.
For wired connection, the router is equipped with 4 Gigabit ports you can use for high-speed data transfer rate. For WAN connection, the router includes one Gigabit WAN Ethernet port you can connect to broadband cable modem or DSL modem. The following is networking diagram using the AirStation Nfinity router.
Please note that the router can be configured for either as the router or access point modes by changing the switch mode. The default IP address for router mode is 192.168.11.1, and for the access point mode the IP address is 192.168.11.100. Default user-name is root and leave the password blank.
