Like other wireless router manufacturers who ship their new wireless routers based on the final version of 802.11n after the IEEE approved the 802.11n as the latest wireless technology standard last Sep 2009, Belkin introduces Belkin Surf, Share, Play, and Max Play wireless routers. Not so long, Belkin introduces a couple of Belkin N600 dual-band wireless routers: Belkin F7D8302 and F7D8301. You may have a look new ultimate performance Belkin N900 DB.
Both Belkin N600 HD dual-band routers are almost the same, both are used for high-performance environment for media-intensive applications such as online gaming and video streaming. However the Belkin F7D8301 has some features that Belkin F7D8301 doesn’t have including the Gigabit ports, 2 USB ports, and Torrent Mate App.
As general both Belkin N600 routers have the following features:
Better Performance
Like other new Belkin routers, Belkin N600 routers are powered by dual-plane antennas and MIMO technology, combined with the wireless n (802.11n) – the routers provide high-performance environment and to cover your large home with better consistent signal. Both routers are dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz simultaneous to provide better performance for media-intensive application such as gaming and streaming.
Memory Save App
This feature is very useful for you that always forget to backup all critical files which are vulnerable to loss. You can attach the storage disk into the router USB port and manage your backup strategy with the Memory Safe App feature.
Self Healing
All new Belkin routers include the Self Healing App that automatically detect and resolve network problems and provide the clearest channel. In case of attention needed, the router sends a notification to your screen so you can take action as necessary.
Unlike Belkin F7D8302, Belkin F7D8301 N600 includes the Torrent Mate App. Normally you download media from Torrent using a computer that must be On during the downloading, but with Torrent Mate App, the router will keep downloading into your External disk (attach to the router) even-though your computer is shutdown or asleep.
Belkin F7D8302 includes only one USB port to let you attach a printer or storage, but Belkin F7D8301 includes two USB ports so you can attach a printer and storage at the same time. The other different between these two routers is the Ethernet interface ports. Belkin F7D8301 includes gigabit ports but F7D8302 doesn’t.
Security
All of wireless N routers support the latest industrial wireless encryption: WPA/WPA2 and so do Belkin N600 routers. Unfortunately Belkin N600 routers do not support multiple SSIDs (aka Guest secure network access). With Guest secure access, you can create security boundary for different groups of users such as your visitors separate from your internal network. Therefore, the routers are not suitable for businesses, they are ideal for home environments.

Should you require routers with secure guest access (multiple SSIDs), consider WNDR37AV by Netgear. WNDR37Av is designed for high-performance video streaming and gaming as well, and the good thing is that the router supports media server which is DLNA compliant. Or consider All-in-one solution for your wireless network DGND3300 – a wireless N300 router with built-in ADSL modem.
Recently Belkin introduced new Belkin N900 DB, a dual band wireless router with ultimate speed of 450Mbps each band. It includes two USB ports, no need to worry of difficulty in sharing the external disk drive and printer together. You can also upgrade your laptop with incredible speed of USB wireless N750 adapter, ideal for streaming and gaming. Check here for other High speed dual band wireless USB adapter.
