Belkin is one of the leading manufacturers in networking including the wireless routers. Belkin always introduces innovative wireless products like its other competitors such as Linksys with it’s new lines of E series wireless routers.

From time to time when new products are introduced, new features are included into the products. The must have wireless security encryption WPA/WPA2 is also supported in each of the pre-N routers to the newest one N750 DB router. Other features that a router must support are the dual-firewall feature (NAT & SPI) for threat protection; the DHCP server for providing IP address automatically to the clients; VPN pass-through to pass any types of VPN protocols (not VPN server natively) and other security standards.

Belkin Wireless Pre N Router

The Belkin Wireless Pre N router is the first wireless router introduced by Belkin using draft 802.11n standard with single 2.4GHz band and is backward compatible with the wireless b/g standard devices. It includes three external antennas with smart MIMO technology with the maximum speed up to 108Mbps.

For wired connection to the router, Belkin Pre N includes four 10/100Mbps Ethernet ports you can connect direct to the computers with NIC-ready.

Averagely 4 stars out of five customer ratings about the products for ease of setup and reliability.

Pros:

Cons:

  • Single band 2.4GHz and speed up to 108Mbps
  • Still expensive compared with other new N150 routers such as best seller Medialink N150 router
  • No USB port for shared storage or shared printer

Belkin N1 Vision

Belkin N1 VisionUnlike the Pre N 108Mbps router, this Belkin N1 Vision is fancy and is equipped with interactive status display. With this display you can view the internet speed, bandwidth usage by the clients and the status of connected devices. The router is plug and play no CD required for setting up.

The router is powered by the draft 802.11n standards with 3×3 MIMO antenna technology for high speed and longer distance coverage.  With the wireless security and WPS feature, connecting the clients is easy.

For wired connection the router supports gigabit Ethernet ports for optimum data throughput when connecting to the computers with gigabit-NIC ready.

Pros:

  • Gigabit ports with sturdy and steady design
  • LCD screen to view what’s going on with your network
  • Guest network with limited access
  • Ease of setup and user-friendly (averagely four stars customer ratings in Amazon)

Cons:

  • Still draft 802.11n – speed

Belkin N600 HD

Belkin N600 HDThe Belkin N600 HD including the Belkin Surf and Belkin Play are the first generation of Belkin wireless routers with the latest ratified wireless 802.11n industrial standards. It’s an N600 wireless simultaneous dual band router supporting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz band. The router delivers the high speed up to 300Mbps each band.

The router includes gigabit Ethernet ports for both LAN (4x) and WAN (1x) interfaces for high speed and reliable wired connection, eliminating the bottleneck. The good thing with this Belkin Max Play is that it supports two USB ports to let you share both storage and printer at the same time, eliminating the requirement of wireless print-server to share the printer.

Cons:

  • So far customer responses are not so good. Receives averagely 2.7 star out of five customer ratings for range, setup, reliability and features as advertized

Belkin N750 DB

Belkin N750 DBThe Belkin N750 DB is the latest and the fastest router introduced by Belkin. With N750 technology, the router delivers the high speeds up to 450Mbps using three spatial data streams in 5GHz band, and up to 300Mbps in 2.4GHz band. The router supports gigabit Ethernet ports for both LAN (4x) and WAN (1x) interfaces for fast reliable wired connection.

The Belkin N750 DB includes all the applications including the Memory safe for automatic data backup; video mover to help you stream HD media from the storage to your home theater devices including Blu-Ray player, XBOX 360 and other streaming adapters; BitTorrent mate; Self-healing and Print Genie.

Cons:

  • So far not many reviewers provide the ratings
