Versatile Access Point
The Dual Band AirPremier DAP-2553 Dlink Access Point allows network administrators to deploy a highly manageable and extremely robust dual band wireless network. With its detachable three dual band antennas, DAP-2553 Wireless Network Access Point can provide optimal wireless coverage in either 2.4GHz (used by 802.11g and draft 2.0 802.11n) or 5GHz (for 802.11a and draft 2.0 802.11n) bands. For advanced installations where power outlets are not readily available, installation of this new high-speed Wireless Network Access Point with its integrated 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) support is possible.
Enhanced Performance
The Dual Band DAP-2553 Dlink Access Point can deliver reliable wireless performance with maximum wireless signal rates of up to 300Mbps (in ideal condition, actual rate will vary) in either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz wireless band. With the addition of Wi-Fi Multimedia™ (WMM) Quality of Service features, DAP-2553 is an ideal Wireless Network Access Point for audio, video, and voice applications. Additionally, the DAP-2553 Dlink Access Point supports load-balancing features – ensuring maximum performance by limiting the maximum number of users per Access Point.
Security
DAP-2553 Dlink Access Point provides wide range of wireless security features including:
- Supporting both Personal and Enterprise versions of WPA and WPA2 (802.11i)
- Support for RADIUS server backend in enterprise-class network
- MAC Address Filtering
- Supports wireless client isolation mechanism to limit direct client-to-client communication
- Wireless LAN segmentation up to 4 VLANs
- Disable SSID Broadcast, Rogue AP Detection, and Wireless Broadcast Scheduling are also included.
Multiple Operation Modes
To maximize total return on investment, the DAP-2553 Dlink Access Point can be configured to optimize network performance based on any one of its multiple operation modes:
- Wireless Access Point, extending your wired network wirelessly, connecting computers with wireless adapters (such as USB wireless network or CardBus wireless adapters). You can select either 2.4 GHz band for normal file share and internet browsing; Skype Wi-Fi phones services. Or you can select 5 GHz band for high definition media transfer, video.
- Wireless Distribution System (WDS) with Access Point, extending the wireless environment with multiple Access points.
- WDS/Bridge (No AP Broadcasting)
- Wireless Client, Ethernet based devices connected to the DAP-2590 are clients to the wireless network such as XBOX console, DVR and so on.
With WDS support, network administrators can set up multiple DAP-2553s throughout a facility and configure them to bridge with one another while also providing network access to individual clients. Also included are advanced features such as Load Balancing, which optimizes high network traffic volume, and redundancy for fail-safe wireless connectivity. Additionally, the DAP-2553 Wireless Network Access Point offers Spanning Tree Protocol support for greater efficiency and to avoid broadcast storms when used in WDS mode.
