Dap-3520 Airpremier Access Point is Dual Band Wireless –N Power over Ethernet Outdoor Access Point, Wireless Distribution System (WDS) support, designed for exterior deployments to support small to medium-sized business-class environments.
Extending the network in an organization is getting easy with the WDS technology adopted by mostly wireless manufacturers. With WDS technology you can grow your wireless network environment without the need of wired backbone connecting between the access points, thus extending your wireless network is easier. Connecting multiple separate locations does not need running the backbone cable especially for outdoor purposes. D-Link introduces Dap-3520 Airpremier Access Point an Outdoor Access Point which is designed for exterior deployments in support of small and medium business-class environments.
The Dap-3520 Airpremier Access Point allows network administrators to deploy a highly manageable and extremely robust dual band wireless network based on draft 802.11n standards. The embedded antennas of this Outdoor Access Point can provide optimal wireless coverage in either 2.4GHz (mostly for 802.11g and draft 2.0 802.11n) or 5GHz (clear band for 802.11a and draft 2.0 802.11n) bands. For advanced installations, this new high-speed Access Point has integrated 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) support, allowing installation of this device in areas where power outlets are not readily available.
What this product does
Enhanced Performance
The Dap-3520 Airpremier Access Point delivers reliable wireless performance with maximum wireless signal rates of up to 300Mbps (if ideal conditions are met) in either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz wireless band. Combined with support for Wi-Fi Multimedia™ (WMM) Quality of Service features, makes this outdoor access point an ideal for audio, video, and voice applications.
When QoS is enabled, the Dap-3520 Airpremier Access Point will automatically prioritize traffic according to the level of interactive streaming, such as gaming (for example go LIVE with your XBOX 360 consoles) or VoIP (such as Belkin Skype phone or Netgear Wi-fi phone). The QoS feature also provides a drop-down menu option to select customized priority rules. Additionally, the DAP-3520 Outdoor Access Point supports load balance features to ensure maximum performance by limiting the maximum number of users per Access Point and by Network Utilization to allow network congestion to dissipate.
Advanced security
To support your business class enterprise security, Dap-3520 Airpremier Access Point provides the latest wireless security encryption technologies including:
- Supporting both Personal and Enterprise versions of WPA and WPA2 (802.11i)
- In enterprise with RADIUS server backend, this outdoor access point is supported
- MAC Address Filtering
- Wireless LAN segmentation
- Disable SSID Broadcast, Rogue AP Detection, and Wireless Broadcast Scheduling are also included.
Powerful Antenna for Superior Connectivity
To optimize performance, DAP-3520 AirPremier Access Point includes a powerful directional antenna embedded in the front panel which is specifically designed to enhance point-to-point deployments, making superior outdoor connectivity possible. Additionally, optional two N-type antenna connectors are available if an alternative radiation pattern is required for the deployment. Exterior Installation
This DAP-3520 Outdoor Access Point is weather resistant with it’s IP65 rated enclosure which is designed to easily install beneath overhangs or in locations with limited protection from elements. In an extreme weather, DAP-3520 Outdoor Access Point with built-in heater is perfect for exterior installations.
Multiple Operation Modes
To maximize total return on investment, the DAP-3520 Access Point can be configured to optimize network performance based on any one of its multiple operation modes:
- Access Point, you can provide connection for computers with various wireless adapters such desktop with wireless USB from D-Link or from Belkin USB wireless adapters, or laptop with CardBus wireless adapters, or game wireless adapters.
- Wireless Distribution System (WDS) with Access Point, allows you extend the network and at the same time provides wireless connection to the clients
- WDS/Bridge (No AP Broadcasting) and Wireless Client.
With WDS support, network administrators can set up multiple DAP-3520s throughout a facility and configure them to bridge with one another while also providing network access to individual clients. The DAP-3520 AirPremier Dual-Band Access Point also includes Spanning Tree Protocol support for greater efficiency and assistance in avoiding broadcast storms when used in WDS. For indoor version, consider The D-Link Airpremier® N DAP-2590 Dual Band POE Access Point.

How to link 2 Access Points (D-Link DAP-3522) using WDS without loosing internet conection ?
can you check what the gateway address is? typically with the wrong gateway address can cause the internet connection problem.
Sorry but the gateway, is it the IP address in modem (192.168.1.1) ??
The gateway received by the clients that cannot access the i n ternet. Use the “ipconfig /all” command from the PC in problems and compare with the one that can access the internet.
OK; i use the “WDS with AP” mode and it works but i have a problem; what type of protection shall i use For the connections thats appear as WiFi ? (WPA or Shared Key
Any answers please ??
I think if you select WPA, you need pre-shared key as the password. if your clients support WPA, then you should select WPA in your AP and the pre-share key as the password. right?
