DSL-2540B D Link ADSL Modem


D Link ADSL Modem – faster DSL Connection with 4 10/100 Mbps port Switch, ADSL2/2+ Modem with Ethernet Router. DSL-2540B modem router – a complete all-in-one solution for your home wired network.

If you would like to build a SOHO with a small area or in the same long table, a couple of computers, and a printer with the Internet services, consider this D Link ADSL Modem – an All in one device DSL-2540B modem router. What this product does?

  1. The latest ADSL and ADSL2+ modem standards can be supported by this D Link ADSL Modem, detecting the DSL setting automatically scanning to allow you easily setup the Internet connection with this DSL-2540B modem router. This modem supports both TR-067 and TR-069. TR-067 is to ensure the compatibility with your ISP’s infrastructure, while TR-069 will automatically updates the firmware and other settings when they become available from the ISP.
  2. D-Link ADSL modem router 2540B DSL-2540B modem router supports built-in 4-port RJ-45 10/100 Switch to allow you easily create a wired network to share a high-speed Internet connection while allowing access to shared files, music, photos, and printers with multiple computers. Support exposed host (DMZ) feature, you can use one computer connected to one of the LAN port as exposed host (DMZ host) for conference application for example.
  3. DSL-2540B modem router provides a protection for your private network against the Internet threats with its dual firewall feature (NAT & SPI) it supports. With Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), the router examines the incoming packets from the Internet more carefully than usual.
  4. DSL-2540B modem router supports the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server, which will provide IP address pool for the computers in the network automatically. You just need to configure the property of the TCP/IP protocol in the computer’s NIC to “obtain an IP address automatically”.
  5. If you frequently go for business and would like to connect your private network for some left files, D Link ADSL Modem supports VPN pass-through that will allow you create a remote connection to the office using the L2TP/IPSec or PPTP tunneling protocols. Use L2TP/IPSec protocol for a better secure remote connection than the PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling protocol). If you would like to inter-connect to the other SOHO network, you can built this modem as virtual server, you can also utilize the routing protocol this modem supports, RIP and RIP2 as well as static routing.

The following figure shows you how to connect the DSL-2540 – it’s just straight- forward. Connect the WAN or the Internet port to the phone line (in the wall jack for home telephone) and do some configuration. The DSL-2540 includes 4-port LAN Switch you can use for wired connection to computers. Or you can add a wireless access point to create a wireless network in your home.

You can also connect the game console with Ethernet port enable and expose it to the Internet and use the DMZ feature for your online gaming. With this way, you can play online game safely without having to allow inbound traffic that allows intruders scan your private network.

Commonly a modem is used together to feed the WAN services to the wireless routers, such as D-855 D-Link wireless router or Netgear WGT-624 wireless router.
