DWL-G820 D-Link Wireless Gaming Adapter

DWL-G820 D-link Wireless Game Adapter is a wireless –G gaming adapter to allow you connect any Ethernet-ready gaming console to a Wi-Fi network. You can also connect two game systems to each other or use one to connect your system to a wireless network.

With DWL-G820 D-link Wireless Game Adapter – you can play both head to head game and online game by connecting into your wireless network infrastructure. DWL-G820 can also be used to make any Ethernet-enabled device wireless (as wireless clients). The DWL-G820 is a true plug & play device that requires no configuration and is ready to work right out of the box.

For configuration purposes, you can perform it through any Java-enabled Web browser or straight from your Xbox® gaming console. For wireless gaming connection, the adapter supports the recent industrial wireless security Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA™) and WEP encryption.

DWL-G820 D-link Wireless Game Adapter – Installation

To configure this DWL-G820 game adapter, you need to make sure the system requirements:

  1. An Ethernet-Enabled Game Console such as XBOX 360
  2. A Wireless Router or Access Point as the wireless infrastructure. You can use one of the wireless routers with built-in modem for simplicity such as WGA160 Linksys
  3. A Broadband Internet Connection – to allow you go Live
  4. A Computer with an Ethernet Adapter
  5. Xbox® Live™ users must have the necessary Xbox® Live™ equipment and an account.

Please refer to the DWL-G820 Wireless gaming adapter diagram here. The following simple steps will help you install the DWL-G820 Wireless gaming adapter:

  1. Connect the power adapter to the Power Receptor on the rear panel of the DWL-G820 and then plug the other end to a wall outlet or power strip. The power LED will turn on to indicate proper operation. If you do not have a D-Link® Wireless Router or Access Point that is using the default SSID and channel settings, please complete the steps in the installation using the Setup Wizard before proceeding.
  2. Insert one end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the rear panel. The Ethernet port on the DWL-G820 is Auto MDI/MDI-X. Meaning you can use a straight-through or crossover cable to the Ethernet Port.
  3. Connect the other end to the Ethernet port located on your gaming console. The LED light will blink when data is transferred through the wireless connection.

If you use D-Link® Wireless Router/Access Point with the default SSID and channel settings, the DWL-G820 will connect right out of the box. No configuration is needed! Simply connect the hardware

The DWL-G820 must be connected directly to your computer for configuration. You cannot configure this device if it is connected to a hub or router.

  1. Connect a standard Ethernet cable from the DWL-G820 to an Ethernet port on the computer that will be used to configure the DWL-G820. You must assign your computer a static IP address within the same range as the IP address of the DWL-G820. The DWL-G820’s default IP address is 192.168.0.35 with a Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0.
  2. Open your Web browser and type http://192.168.0.35 into the URL address box. Then press the Enter or Return key. The log-in pop-up screen will appear, Type admin for the user name and leave the password field blank and then click OK.
  3. Once you have logged in, the Home screen will appear, and then you can follow the installation Wizard.
