Hawking HWRN1A Hi Gain Wireless N300 Router

Highlights:

  • Wireless 802.11b/g/n compliant with 3x 3dBi external dipole hi gain antenna
  • Works great for video streaming and gaming
  • Hi gain technology for fast data rate transfer
  • Mac and PC support and easy installation
  • Advanced security (64/128-bit WEP Data Encryption, WPA-PSK (TKIP, AES), WPA2-PSK(TKIP, AES), Radius Server

The Hawking HWRN1A is one of hi gain wireless N300 routers delivering high speed up to 300Mbps in single band. Manufacturer tests found that the range distance can be five times as long as Airport Extreme base station.  This is ideal for large home with large backyard or warehouses eliminating dead spots compared with traditional wireless routers.

How do you compare this Hawking HWRN1A hi gain wireless N300 router with other popular wireless N routers?

The following table shows you HWRN1A hawking Vs Netgear WNDR3400 Vs Linksys E3200, manufacturer spec comparison.

Hawking hi gain hwrn1a wireless n300 routerWireless technology

Regarding the wireless technology, the hawking hi gain HWRN1A supports single 2.4GHz band only, while the other two routers support N600 technology – a simultaneous dual band technology delivers up to 300Mbps each band for totally up to 600Mbps. What makes different with the other two routers regarding the wireless is the antenna, it is powered by hi gain 3dBi gain dipole antenna (3 external antennas) with 3×3 MIMO technology to reach multiple times as longer as standard antenna.

Connectivity

If you expect the gigabit Ethernet connectivity for your LAN and WAN ports, the Linksys E3200 is your router. The other two routers include fast Ethernet ports (10/100Mbps) – fast enough for standard networking tasks.

The drawback with hawking hi gain router is that it doesn’t support USB port like the other two routers for sharing external disk storage. Linksys with Cisco connect software helps you manage  the networking tasks easier including sharing the storage across the network. Unfortunately both Netgear and Linksys routers don’t support share printer. Netgear Wndr3800 N600 premium edition support USB port with share printer and the newest version of Netgear Wndr4500 includes two USB ports for hosting both storage and printer concurrently.
