New generation of Linksys wireless USB including Linksys AE1000, AE1200 and AE2500
We understand that not all of us have brand new laptops with built-in wireless N Wi-Fi adapter. It doesn’t mean that you cannot afford to buy brand new one but you still have one with built-in wireless b/g Wi-Fi adapter. Linksys AE1200 High Performance Wireless N USB Adapter
If you are thinking that the Linksys AE1200 features much better performance than the Linksys AE1000, you are wrong. Typically the higher the series number, the better the features and performance is but this one is different. AE1200 is high performance wireless USB adapter but unlike the previous version AE1000 which supports selectable dual band, this AE1200 supports single 2.4GHz band delivering the speed up to 300Mbps with 2x internal antennas MIMO technology.
With single band adapter, you can connect the adapter to any of wireless N technology-based router. Even though you still can connect to the legacy wireless b/g network, but the point is to upgrade your legacy laptops / desktop to get maximum data throughput in connecting to the wireless N300 or N600 routers with 2.4GHz band such as Linksys E1500 N300 or Linksys E1200 N300.

Linksys AE2500 High Performance Dual Band USB Adapter
Like the previous Linksys AE1000, this Linksys AE2500 is also powered by the selectable dual band which is optimized for streaming HD video and gaming. Equipped with 2 internal antennas with MIMO technology, it looks like not much different with the AE1000 except that the AE2500 doesn’t include the stand and extended USB cable.
With this adapter, you can connect to any wireless N routers including the dual band version routers such as Asus RT-N56U N600 or the Belkin N750 DB routers.
At a moment Linksys doesn’t offer the fastest wireless N450 USB adapters which supports up to 450Mbps speed for maximum data throughput when connects to any N750 routers. Trendnet offers wireless USB adapter with N450 speed TEW-684UB.
