New Belkin N750 DB Wireless Simultaneous Dual Band Router – the new Belkin wireless router with high speeds up to 450Mbps in 5GHz band and 300Mbps in 2.4GHz band
Belkin introduces wide range of new wireless N router series including routers with N150, N300, N450 and N750 technologies. Unlike the previous models, these new series look more stylists with oval shape and rounded at the edges. Two types of the routers support the simultaneous dual band (DB) wireless technology: the Belkin N600 DB and Belkin N750 DB.
Currently there are two wireless routers with N750 technology that have already been shipped into the market several months earlier than the new Belkin N750 DB router, the Linksys E4200 and the Netgear WNDR4000. N750 means the routers support the high speeds of up to 450Mbps in 5GHz band and up to 300Mbps in 2.4GHz band. Actually these are the ideal theoretical speeds that you will never reach these speeds in the real world.
What Does this Belkin N750 Do?
Belkin is a little bit late in shipping the N750 routers into the market like its competitors Linksys E4200 and WNDR4000 who launched the products several months earlier. But Belkin introduces new wireless routers covering all the wireless technologies the users can select to meet their needs covering the N150, N300, N450, N600 and the N750 wireless technologies.
The Belkin N750 DB supports the simultaneous dual band technology and is powered by the Multi-beam antenna technology for high power signal strength eliminating the dead spots area within the large home.
Besides high speeds of N750 technology, the Belkin N750 is embedded with the Gigabit Ethernet ports for LAN and WAN interfaces delivering high gigabit speeds of wired connection ideal for connecting to brand new computers which are equipped with Gigabit NIC adapters. Connect the Gigabit ports to the computers (with gigabit port too) using the Cat5e UTP twisted cable for maximum data rate throughput.
2 USB Ports
You can take advantage of using this Belkin N750 DB router for ‘Work and Play’. One of the advantages of wireless computer networking is the capability of sharing a printer and storage to be accessible by users on the network. Belkin with its N750 technology supports two USB ports to let you share the storage and printer eliminating the need of purchasing a separate wireless print server. You can use the USB print and storage manager to help you manage and monitor the use of printer, scanner, drive and other USB connected devices.
WNDR4000 N750 and Linksys E4200 support one USB port but you cannot use it to host a shared printer. You can only use the USB port to host a shared storage. When you require sharing the printer, you need to purchase separate print-server. The new Asus RT-N56U Black Diamond supports two USB ports too for shared storage and printer. But RT-N56U is powered by N600 technology.
Advanced Security
All the security standards a router must support, Belkin N750 supports them as well. These include the dual firewall feature NAT and SPI (Network Address Translation and Stateful Packet Inspection) and wireless security encryption WPA/WPA2.
Like its competitor WNDR4000 and Linksys E4200, the Belkin N750 router supports Guest network to let you grant internet access for your guests by limiting access to the local network resources. Belkin supports 3 SSIDs, one SSID each band and one Guest network you can locate at the network information card under the foot of your router. But WNDR4000 supports guest network each bands (4xSSIDs).
Since the router is designed for home networking, it doesn’t support the VPN server natively but VPN protocols pass-through including IPSec, PPTP and L2TP. If you require a router for small business with VPN supports, you can consider Cisco RV120W VPN router.

Networking Solutions
The figure 2 shows the networking diagram that connects the Belkin N750 router to the modem (either cable or ADSL). Storage and printer are shared across the network via the router’s USB ports. With your HDTV and the streaming adapter (can be Roku XDS, Apple TV or Boxee) you can stream your movies library in your shared storage to the HDTV wirelessly. Belkin supports Video Mover application to let you do that easily, it’s like an AV media server.

Belkin N750 DB is a dual band wireless router with two USB ports for shared storage and printer, ideal router for home and small offices for ‘Work and Play’.
