TP Link N Router products are so popular in providing affordable solutions for home wireless networks. They are powered by CCA technology which automatically avoids channel conflicts using their channel selection feature.
Tl-Wr941nd and Tl-Wr841nd are two of TP Link wireless N Routers which are powered by new 802.11n 300Mbps technology. Both are backward compatible with wireless b/g standards. Both routers are ideal solution for home wireless networks; they include features to meet all your requirements to build in building your secure home network such as the following.
- Support firewall feature for Internet sharing and Internet threats protection
- Supports universal plug and play (UPnP), DDNS, static routing, and VPN Pass-through for secure remote tunneling
- Supports DMZ to host a secure public resources such as web site, supports virtual server, and special application
- For wireless security, the routers supports SSID broadcast control and MAC access control list. They also support wireless industrial standard WPA (TKIP/AES); WEP; shared key, and IEEE 802.1x for wireless security connection.
- Parental control by URL filtering and time based access.
- Include 4x 10/100Mbps Auto MDI/MDIX LAN Ethernet ports for fast wired connection to the computers, and 1x 10/100Mbps WAN Ethernet port for broadband modem connection.
All TP Link n routers support the DHCP server feature to provide IP address automatically to all the wired and wireless clients in the network to eliminate the complexities in providing manual IP address configuration. Just configure TCP/IP property of all the client computers to obtain the IP address automatically from the DHCP server.
Basically both Tl-Wr941nd and Tl-Wr841nd TP Link N routers have the same features but there are couples of feature differences as shown in the following tables.
TL-WR841ND Wireless N Router is powered by wireless 300Mbps with 2×2 MIMO (with 2x detachable 5dBi Omni directional antennas) and CCA technology. But TL-WR941ND is powered by 2×3 MIMO technology (with3dBi detachable Omni Directional Antenna X 3), CCA, and the addition of SST technology. CCA technology is a feature to automatically avoid channel conflicts using the router channel selection feature.
| TL-WR841ND Wireless N Router | TL-WR941ND Wireless N Router | |
|---|---|---|
| standards | 802.11n 300Mbps with 2×2 with MIMO, CCA™ technology | 802.11n 300Mbps with 2×3 MIMO, SST™, CCA™ technology |
| Antenna | 2x detachable 5dBi Omni directional antennas | 3dBi detachable Omni Directional Antenna X 3 |
To create just a wireless network in homes, both routers are good enough to share broadband internet connection and other documents sharing. Should you demand more advanced features the routers do not support the following features:
USB Ports
Both Tl-Wr941nd and Tl-Wr841nd TP Link N Routers do not support USB port to allow you share external disk storage or share network printer. You know that sharing printer capability for wireless router is important in the computer networking. However you can add a wireless print-server should you need print sharing. See also wireless routers with print servers such as Belkin N600 wireless gigabit routers.
Guest Secure Access
Some people are not aware about the wireless security to protect their wireless network against un-authorized access. But many people acknowledge the important of protecting their wireless network security by enabling the wireless security. One of new business class security features for networking is the Guest secure access capability. With guest secure access, you can create separate security boundary for guest access. Both Tl-Wr941nd and Tl-Wr841nd TP Link N Routers do not support the secure guest access (aka multiple SSIDs). Should you require guest secure access capability, consider Netgear WNDR3400 N600 wireless n router.
TL-WR941ND and Tl-Wr841nd TP Link N Routers are affordable routers for your home wireless network, delivering high-speeds of up to 300Mbps (ideal conditions).
