Surfboard SB6141 is an easy to use DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem that support high speed channel bonding up to eight downstream channels up to 300Mbps and can also support up to four upstream channels with the speed of up to 100Mbps. These are ideal speed the providers can offer to their premium subscribers for high bandwidth data and multimedia services.

With the high speed it can support, the modem is equipped with one gigabit Ethernet port which is ideal in connecting to high performance wireless gigabit routers  such as new WNDR4500 N900 router or any business class routers with Gigabit port for maximum data throughput between the modem and router.

The Surfboard SB6141 is compatible with any types of operating systems including Windows, Macintosh, and UNIX computers. To support the future of IPv6 addressing while IPv4 is beginning to exhaust, this modem is ready for IPv6 future upgrade.

What is the main difference between the Surfboard SB6120/6121 with SB6141? The number of downstream channels they support. SB6120/6121 can only enable channel bonding up to four channels downstream and up to four upstream channels with the high speed up to 100Mbps each direction. Compare with SB6141 which can support channel bonding up to 8 channels downstream for the speed up to 300Mbps.

This Surfboard SB6141 is actually for providers not available in retail. But generally they will be available soon in retail.

For cable modem with wireless router in a single device, Motorola has shipped SBG6580 DOCSIS 3.0 wireless cable modem with four Gigabit Ethernet ports and support wireless N dual band selectable. So you don’t need separate modem and wireless router to build a wireless N network in home.
