Old generation WBR2310 Wireless G Home Router Vs D-Link DIR-601 home router
You might think that D-Link DIR-601 N150 home router doesn’t compare with WBR2310 home wireless G router because they are designed with different technology. The reason I compare the two routers because many people (who are addicted to D-Link products) would like to upgrade their old generation WBR2310 router with the new affordable one but don’t know which one.
Not to mentioning about the routers which fall into high performance routers category, D-Link DIR-601 is a wireless N150 home class router for standard wireless networking for simple tasks such as internet share; file share; printer share and other work purposes tasks. WBR2310 is an old generation wireless G router for simple wireless networking tasks. Should you upgrade your WBR2310 router with the recent generation of wireless technology, consider the D-Link DIR-601 N150 router.
To help you compare the two routers, the following table shows you the manufacturers features and specifications differences between the two.
Speeds
WBR2310 is powered by the legacy wireless G with enhanced Range-Booster technology. Normally with wireless G standard the router delivers the speeds up to 54Mbps, but with Range-Booster technology the router delivers the higher speeds up to 108Mbps – twice as fast as wireless G standards.
DIR-601 N150 is powered by the latest wireless N technology delivers the high speeds up to 150Mbps. The fastest wireless technology today uses three spatial data streaming delivering speeds up to 450Mbps where each of data steams delivers speeds up to 150Mbps. Currently there are many routers adopt the three spatial data streaming such as WNDR4000 N750; Linksys E4200 N750 and new Belkin N750 DB. All the three routers are simultaneous dual band gigabit routers with N750 technology.
Both WBR2310 and DIR-601 N150 include 4x fast Ethernet ports for wired connection to the computers with NIC adapters.
Security features
Both WBR2310 and DIR-601 N150 support all security standard features mostly all wireless routers support including dual-firewall features (NAT and SPI); VPN pass-through (not native VPN actually) and WPA/WPA2 wireless security encryption. But the main difference between the two is the WPS feature for ease of client connection. WBR2310 doesn’t support WPS, but DIR-601 N150 does. WPS is an easy way to connect the wireless clients (with WPS-enable) to the router by just pressing a button.
Green Technology
WBR2310 doesn’t support the D-Link green technology – an eco friendly technology to conserve the energy, but the D-Link DIR601 does. D-Link green technology helps conserve the energy by designing the products with eco-friendly including the different power usage with different cable length and reduce waste by using recyclable packaging.
