The included router supports the dual firewall feature (NAT and SPI) for protecting your network against any internet threats. And it also helps you to share a single broadband internet connection with many computers on the network. Note that a pure modem cannot be used to share the internet; it must have a NAT function for shared internet. Asus DSL-N10 includes the modem with routing functions to let you share the internet.

Asus DSL-N10 wireless ADSL router includes a built-in wireless access point which is powered by the latest 802.11n technology delivering the high speeds of up to 150Mbps. The router includes an external detachable antenna. Unlike other standard wireless router which typically includes a 2dBi Omni antenna, the Asus DSL-N10 includes one 5dBi hi-gain antenna to boost the signal for larger network coverage.

Asus DSL-N10 wireless ADSL router supports multiple SSIDs. It’s like Virtual LAN in wired network, multiple SSIDs allows you create up to four networks with different network name and password. This is beneficial for small offices that would like to segregate the network based on the groups of users whenever you need to control the bandwidth priority and different access rights to each of the network segments.

The Asus DSL-N10 includes 4×10/100Mbps Ethernet ports to let you connect up to four computers direct to the modem using UTP Cat5 network cable. But you cannot create VLAN (virtual LAN) on this wired network as opposed to wireless network with its multiple SSIDs support.

Advanced Security

The Asus DSL-N10 wireless ADSL router supports wide range of advanced security for both personal and business class security including WPA/WPA2 (PSK and Enterprise), RADIUS and also WEP for connecting to legacy clients. Connecting to the network is relatively easy with the WPS feature. All the clients with WPS-enabled will easily connect to the network by just pressing the WPS button.

Networking Diagram

The figure 2 shows the networking diagram that is typically used in homes or small offices. Connect the RJ-11 port in the modem to the phone line, that’s it and you are on business. You can connect your XBOX console (with XBOX wireless n adapter) to the wireless network for gaming experience too.
