Netgear WNDR3700 V2 N600 Vs Buffalo WZR-HP-AG-300H N600 Router

The NETGEAR WNDR3700 N600 RangeMax is dual band wireless N gigabit router, with USB port and advanced security features. How do you compare with Buffalo WZR-HP-AG-300H?

High Speeds

The WNDR3700 v2 N600 is one of high performance wireless routers which was originally powered by draft 802.11n N600 technology delivering the high speeds up to 300Mbps each band.  The Buffalo WZR-HP-AG-300H N600 is the first router with simultaneous dual-band technology developed by Buffalo with DD-WRT Linux-based firmware with maximum speeds up to 300Mbps each band.

The wireless N600 dual band routers support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands concurrently. At the 5GHz band the router works in a less interference radio frequency band which is ideal for time-sensitive applications including streaming high definition video and fast responsive gaming with jitter-free and lag-free. On the other hand you can work with your normal networking tasks such as email, share the files, share the printer and surfing the internet using the 2.4GHz band. Should you don’t need N600 dual band routers, you can consider more economical routers with N300 technology such as Linksys E1500 N300 router or you may consider the Amazon best seller in router category the Medialink N150 router.

Netgear WNDR3700 N600 routerWNDR3700 V2 N600 includes internal with fine-tuned antenna while the Buffalo WZR-HP-AG-300H N600 includes external adjustable antennae to eliminate the dead-spots by fine-tuning your antenna positioning.

Both routers are embedded by gigabit Ethernet ports, four ports LAN-switch and one port WAN (internet) port. You can utilize the gigabit switch for high-speed and reliable wired connections to the computers with gigabit NIC adapter ready for maximum data throughput. Netgear also releases N600 routers with 10/100Mbps ports and off course less money such as WNDR3400 N600 router.  What about gigabit WAN port? You can connect to any modem with gigabit WAN port such as SBG6120 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem for maximum data throughput between the modem and the router. But the gigabit WAN port doesn’t improve your internet connectivity performance; it’s about data lane between the LAN networks. Any WAN connectivity performance depends on your ISP such as the bandwidth services.

USB Ports

Both routers include one USB port to let you share the storage across the network. Unfortunately both cannot host a shared printer. You can share the printer in traditional way by connecting the printer to the computer port and share it across the network. Or you need to purchase separate wireless print-server. But if you really require sharing the printer on the router, you can consider Asus RT-N56U N600 which includes two USB ports for shared storage and printer at the same time.

WNDR3700 N600 is DLNA compliant device, means it will have no connectivity issues in connecting to any DLNA compliant devices. You can stream high definition media from the connected storage (to the USB router’s port) to Blu-Ray player for example. Buffalo WZR-HP-AG-300H N600 supports NAS with easy management of the disk, shared folder, web access, media server and Bi-Torrent client.

Both routers are equipped with one USB port with advanced useful storage features.

Multiple SSIDs

The Netgear WNDR3700 N600 supports guest network each band. Guest network allows you create different network (SSID) with limited access to your network resources. You can grant Internet access to your guests without providing access right to your local network resources. But WZR-HP-AG-300H N600 is a bit difference; you can disable or enable multiple SSIDs with different security settings.

Guest network in WNDR3700 would be better in securing your local network from being accessed by un-authorized users when you grant internet access to your guests. On the other hand, WZR-HP-AG-300H N600 with multiple SSIDs (up to three SSIDs) and with different security settings you can configure the clients to be able to connect to the internet but not to be able to communicate with each other.
