Overview
Buffalo previously launched several types of wireless routers in the high power routers category and all operate on a single 2.4GHz band until finally he launched Wzr-Hp-AG300H which is first dual band wireless router ever released by Buffalo. Buffalo Ag300h (for brevity) is packed with the same design as some of the earlier models that are different from other models of wireless routers available today.
Original model is a vertical form factor but you can also put it lying horizontally with two external antenna horns which are flat and a little bit wide.

Linux Based Firmware
Why Buffalo high power router? Buffalo high power routers are different with other high performance wireless routers, the routers are powered by the DD-WRT an open source Linux based firmware. For developers, this is the ideal router for optimally utilizing the router for best functional.
High Speed
It’s not like previous Buffalo products, Buffalo Ag300h is to answer the demands of the router technology that has been developed with a dual band and so all existing standards can be compatible. Speed up to 300Mbps each band with two external antenna 2×2 MIMO smart antenna technology ensures speed and routers provide solid connections to the clients with a wider range.
Like other competitors in the same class such as the Linksys E3200, Netgear WNDR3700 and Belkin N600 DB, this router also comes with gigabit Ethernet interfaces, gigabit speed wired connection that is ideal for applications that require high bandwidth continuously between computers on the LAN, while the connection to the WAN with gigabit interface to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem would be great without the bottleneck so the data transfer rate can be optimal.
Advanced Features
Beside general features all the wireless routers must have things like NAT & SPI (helps protect against the threats), DHCP (providing IP address configuration automatically for client computers in the network), the Buffalo Ag300H router supports the high business class features including Virtual Private Network (VPN) to allow you create a secure tunneling from remote sites, VLAN (Virtual LAN) to segregate your network, and Virtual AP (multiple SSIDs). The router supports the next generation of the IPv6 – IP address version 6. Not much home routers support the VLAN except Guest secure access. With Guest access, you can provide wireless access for guests without granting access to your local network.
Connection Diagram
The following figure is the home networking diagram that uses Buffalo AG300H high power router as the heart of the network. You can connect any types of Ethernet-based devices (such as Blu-Ray players, XBOX console, HDTV) to your wireless network using the WLI-TX4-AG300N Wireless N Dual Band Internet Adapter. This adapter includes 4-port Ethernet to let you connect up to four devices to the wireless network.
Installation is easy with the included manual document. The default IP address of the router is 192.168.11.1 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0.

Middle of 2012 Buffalo introduced the latest generation of 5G Wifi router – WZR-D1800H wireless 802.11ac router, this is the fastest wireless speed up to 1300Mbps in 5GHz band.
R10000G High Power Wireless-N 600mW Gigabit Router
An alternative for Buffalo Ag300h high power router is the product introduced by Amped Wireless is R10000G High power Gigabit router. The router is designed for large home coverage, offices or warehouses.

Users review it with various opinions and mostly are satisfied with the signal strength to cover large corner of the house. And installation wizard is easy too. Unfortunately the R10000G doesn’t support dual band, lack of 5GHz band.
Buffalo Ag300H with Linux based firmware and Amped R10000G are both high power devices you consider for your large home networks.
