Buffalo WZR-HP-G300N & WHR-HP-G300N are high power routers with open source DD-WRT Linux Firmware. They can work either as the wireless access point or wireless router – ideal solution for large home.
Overview
Demanding high intensive bandwidth applications including streaming HD video and fast responsive gaming to cover large home, you should install a high power and high performance wireless router. The router should be powered by the fastest wireless technology with high power hardware platform. It should also support the Quality of Service (QoS) prioritization engine to prioritize multimedia traffic over other data traffic.
Unlike other standard home wireless routers, the wireless routers that fall into high performance routers are more expensive, can be twice or triple as much the price as standard N150 routers. Buffalo WZR-HP-G300N & WHR-HP-G300N high power wireless routers are affordable routers to meet your need.
Why Buffalo WZR-HP-G300N & WHR-HP-G300N?
Both WZR-HP-G300N & WHR-HP-G300N routers are powered by the open source DD-WRT Linux based firmware. The main emphasis of DD-WRT firmware is to provide the easiest possible handling. It also supports a great number of functionalities within the framework of the respective hardware platform used.
High power routers
Both WZR-HP-G300N & WHR-HP-G300N are high power routers with the recent wireless 802.11n technology. The routers deliver the high speeds of up to 300Mbps ideally. In the real world, you never reach this speed due to many environmental factors. The high power technology provides high speed up to 300Mbps and extended wireless coverage for larger home – ideal for streaming HD media and gaming experiences.
Between the two routers, which one is suitable to meet your need? You should understand the major differences between the two routers before you decide choosing the one that meets to you. The table below shows the major differences between the two.

Unlike the WHR-HP-G300N which includes 4×10/100mbps Ethernet ports, the WZR-HP-G300N includes 4xgigabit Ethernet ports which is ideal for high speed wired connection for large files data transfer.
The other value you can take with the WZR-HP-G300N is that the router includes one USB port you can use to host a shared storage. Unfortunately, you cannot use the port to host a USB printer, unless you tweak the firmware to support the printer. If you require sharing the printer you should add a wireless print-server. You can consider more values router which includes two USB ports to host both storage and printer at the same time, for example the new Asus RT-N56U Black Diamond. This router supports simultaneous dual band technology with two USB ports.
By default the WHR-HP-G300N includes external 2×2 MIMO with adjustable flip-flop antenna and can be upgraded to support high gain directional antennas for better power. On the other hand, the WZR cannot be upgraded; it includes 3×3 adjustable flip-flop antennas.
To create a secure guest network can only be performed on the WZR series. With guest network feature, you can create separate security boundary for guest with different password and with limited access right.
Wzr-Hp-ag300 Vs Wndr4000 N750
